Apple has begun production of its next upcoming version of the iPad, according to an American English-language international daily newspaper “The Wall Street Journal”.
The iPad 2 will feature a faster and powerful graphic processor with a camera support for video conferencing, but it will have the same display resolution as the first iPad. It will be lighter and thinner than the first model and also have more memory.
Apple has sold $5 Million worth of 14.8 million units of iPad in the three quarters since its release.
In the beginning of this month, A Reuters reporter claimed to have seen an iPad 2 prototype after the launch of News Corp’s “The Daily”. Still, it’s not confirmed that the new device will support USB port. And an Unconfirmed news from DigiTimes that Foxconn, a key maker of iPads and iPhones, ready to ship 400,000 to 600,000 units of iPad 2 by the end of February.
The iPad 2 will be sold via current partners Verizon Wireless and AT&T and might be support dual mode (CDMA and GSM) networks. The report didn’t indicate what will be the price of iPad 2 and when it might be available in the store.
