The next generation of iPhone has been revealed in an event held at Apple’s Headquarter in Cupertino.
The iPhone 5S retains the same overall physical design and style as the iPhone 5, but brings a variety of improvements and verifies earlier rumors that it would contain a fingerprint sensor, a faster processor and improved camera with dual LED flash.
Apple prepared the iPhone 5S to run 64-bit apps (all previous versions ran at 32-bits). Thanks to a new processor: the Apple SOC A7. It features more than 1 billion transistors into a 102mm processor chip. Apple has re-designed all the built-in apps — such as Calendar, Mail.
The new SOC A7 chip makes the iPhone 5S five-times faster than the preceding and 56 times than the first iPhone. The SOC A7 chip can handle ES Version3.0/OpenGL 3.0 for console-level 64-bit graphics. The forthcoming Infinity Blade III will be one of the first games to take advantage of the improvement to deliver enhanced graphics.

Core Motion API for Developers
The iPhone 5S brings out a CoreMotion API for developers — merging sensor data from the gyroscope, accelerometer and compass — powered by a co-processor known as the M7. Apple says its “optimized for contextual awareness,” such as when the user is in a moving vehicle.
Finger-print reader
A fingerprint reader in the traditional home button is one of the big improvements to the iPhone hardware, which enables a function called Touch ID. The sensor scans the fingertip of the human being who is pressing the button and allows password-free accessibility into the phone.
The fingerprint reader, which has a defensive layer of durable azure crystal, can store many fingerprints and examine them from any direction and stay secure and encoded, on the A7 chip.
Major Camera Improvements
The enhanced camera is stated to be significantly better than preceding generations, with widely improved low light capabilities. The new five element lens has a ƒ/22 aperture and a 15% larger active sensor area.
The new iPhone 5s camera is equipped with a dual LED flash known as ‘True tone’ and improved capabilities in all lighting conditions. A number of new software features have been produced for the camera which includes a burst mode at 10 frames per second, and a method to film 120fps slow-motion video at 720p.
Battery Life
The Battery life of Apple’s iPhone 5s is ranked as follows: 10 hours 3G talk, 8 hours 3G browsing, 10 hours Wi-Fi or LTE browsing, 40 hours for music, 10 hours video playback and 250 hours standby times.
New Color
A new ‘champagne’ color option has been made available for the first time, which includes gold tinted metal, and white glass.
The 5S will release later this year with the latest version of Apple’s mobile OS iOS 7. This update features an all new design and style which is popular for removing the artwork that iOS has been famed for since its original premiere in 2007.
Pre-Orders will be starts from 13th September and iPhone 5S will be set on sale on Sept. 20 in the United States, Canada, France, China, Japan, Singapore, Germany, and the UK. It will be available in 16, 32 or 64GB of storage like preceding versions for $199, $299 and $399, respectively on a 2 year contract. Apple will also supply colored leather cases for $39 each.
Apple plans to sell the iPhone 5S in 100 countries by December, on more than 270 carriers.
