WhatsApp will now start labeling all forwards with a ‘Forwarded’ label in an attempt to stop the spread of fake news and spam.
This update is available for both Android and iOS users, so you will have to download the latest version of the app from the respective Stores. With the update, forwarded messages will display a small “Forwarded” label at the top of the message, similar to forwarded email messages. This way, users will have enough time to get whether the person who sent you the message had actually written it or not.
It may look like a small update, but it’s one, the company says could help users to identify and other types of misinformation and fake news. We cares deeply about our users safety and encourage users to think twice before sharing messages that were forwarded, the company wrote in a blog post.
Earlier, this feature was available in the beta version and now finally ready to roll out to the public. You can download the latest version of WhatsApp via the App Store and Play Store.
