Microsoft released an update for Skype for Windows (v 5.8) that brings several new and amazing features including Group Screen Sharing, HD Web Calls and Facebook integration.

Now you can make improved video calls with your friends or business contacts. You can enjoy Full HD Video Calls by using the newest technology for Skype and Logitech. You will need at least a 2 Mbps download/upload connection to enjoy full HD quality video calls.

With Skype 5.8, you can make video calls with all your Facebook buddies, even if they are not using the Skype. To start a video calls with your Facebook buddy, select the contact from your list and click on “Video Call”.

Finally, the new version version of Skype support Group Screen Sharing Service that allows users to share their application window or entire screen with participant on a Conference Call. This feature is only available with Skype Premium.  To open it, Select “Share my Screen” from the + menu during a call.

Other new features include a push to talk hotkey that allows users to set a hot key for microphone muting on Skype call. You can configure it from the section “Hot Keys” from Tools > Options > Advanced and Hot Keys. Now You can also hide the offline Facebook buddies from your list in Skype.
