YouTube Founders Acquire Delicious from Yahoo

0

Yahoo! On Wednesday sold the social bookmarking site “Delicious” to YouTube founders Steve Chen and Chad Hurley, who will fold it into a new company they have created called AVOS.

Delicious highlights about the deal in an FAQ that user data will be protected and that the new team will “add new features and grow the service overall.” Starting today, Yahoo does ask and agree to let Yahoo transfer your bookmarks to the new owner, when users sign in to Delicious before the move is completed in July.

The information transferred would include:

  • Delicious username
  • Delicious password
  • Email address
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Bookmarks, Tags and Notes
  • Inbox items
  • Tag Bundles
  • Tag Descriptions
  • Network Members
  • Subscriptions
  • Blogpost jobs
  • Twitter Auth credentials (if supplied)

Users will no longer be able to access their bookmark after the transition is complete, if they don’t opt-in to transfer their bookmarks to the New Owner.  Users can also export their bookmarks from Delicious by using export tool. Users can also contact with support team, if they require assistance.

The search engine giant Google also launched a tool to move their bookmarks to its Google Bookmarks service.

Delicious, which has millions of users around the world, was launched in 2003 and bought by Yahoo! in 2005.

Lets wait to see what Chen and Hurley have planned for the service? Please let us know in the comments what you think about the deal.
