On April 3, 2010, WordPress announced the first beta of version 3.0-b-1. There are some great new features coming, including custom post types, a new default theme, and a menu manager. Here is an overview about What’s new in WordPress 3.0
Choose your Username and Password during Installation.
You’ll find new features as soon as you start! In early version, when you first install WordPress, you are assigned a default username of admin, and a randomly generated password. Now WordPress give a new facility to choose a username and password when installing. This means that security within WordPress has been enhanced. Previously, a hacker could probably depend on the fact that there was a username called ‘admin’.

WordPress has been release its first beta of WordPress 3.0. In a late-night announcement Jane Wells, the UX lead at Automattic, laid out some of the many new features in the version 3.0 beta of the popular blogging software.
According to WordPress official blog, it’s still an early beta, with some unfinished features. So you’re likely not going to want to run this on your primary site. However, there are some slick new toys to play with.

After a new installation of WordPress, you get informed that you are logged in with the default password and this can be a security risk. It is therefore strongly recommended to change the password. For those of you who love to be on the cutting edge, you’ll be happy to learn that the Beta 1 version of WordPress 2.8 is now available for download. As always, with these types of releases, we recommend you use it in a test environment, rather than using it on a live website/blog. I usually recommend people wait until the release candidates (RC) before you can be comfortable using it on a live site.
