After a long wait WordPress release its newest version WordPress 3.0 Thelonious. WordPress 3.0 is thirteenth major release of WordPress, is  now available for download or your can upgrade from your dashboard.

Over 218 contributors take a part to get ready WordPress 3.0 and they complete there work in half a year.

The Major new features introduce in this release is a brand new WordPress Theme called Twenty Ten, a new API’s for theme developers that allow them to customize post types, taxonomies, backgrounds, menus, headers and short links .

Google ChromeThe most recent developer version of Google’s Chrome browser has introduced a quiet, but appreciable change. When you see some text prefixed by “http://” you automatically know that what follows is a web address, as defined by the Hypertext Transfer Protocol.

Google has removed http:// prefix from the recent developer version of Chorme, and simply displaying a URL as “glanceworld.com”. Here are some questions raised What happens in other cases for example where the scheme is https or FTP? For this reason, some individuals are actually reporting the feature as a bug.

Firefox fans, it’s here: The first beta of Firefox Lorentz beta has been released.

Lorentz is Firefox version 3.6.3 with a much delight in update. Firefox beta allows you to separate plugins, such as Adobe Flash, so that they don’t crash the entire browser when they encounter issues and the plugin is replaced with a dark image notifying the plugin crash. This feature is called “out-of-process plugins.”

On April 3, 2010, WordPress announced the first beta of version 3.0-b-1. There are some great new features coming, including custom post types, a new default theme, and a menu manager. Here is an overview about What’s new in WordPress 3.0

Choose your Username and Password during Installation.

You’ll find new features as soon as you start! In early version, when you first install WordPress, you are assigned a default username of admin, and a randomly generated password. Now WordPress give a new facility to choose a username and password when installing. This means that security within WordPress has been enhanced. Previously, a hacker could probably depend on the fact that there was a username called ‘admin’.

For those of you who love to be on the cutting edge, you’ll be happy to learn that the new version of WordPress 2.8 is now available for download and has packed in a lot more user friendliness than before. According to WordPress – version 2.8 represents a nice fit and finish release for WordPress with improvements to themes, widgets, taxonomies, and overall speed.

The Beta 1 and Beta 2 release of this version happened around this time last month and had been getting a lot of positive response.

With the upcoming version 2.8 of WordPress, the extension to the JavaScript library jQuery Jcrop is implemented. Jcrop allows directly into a web application to crop images.

A first peak shows the site about Jcrop and I’m curious how it will be included in WordPress, currently is no live demo available.

In the current trunk of WordPress is a “first run” of the new widget management available to see. This is a development version, it shows the warning “This page is not 100% ready, please use only on test installations.”.
